World Book Day
Fri 08 Mar 2024We all travelled into the wonderful world of reading and celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. As we were all dressed up as different characters, we all got into role (even staff!) and had a fantastic time reading and discussing our favourite books and characters. It was lovely to see such a range of characters such as Mr Strong from the Mr Men, Mickey Mouse, Hermione Granger, Verucca Salt and Willy Wonka !
We even had a visit from a famous storyteller called John Row who enchanted the children with tales from all over the world. Our fantastic PTFA reading challenge was also launched this week and children are very excited about it and already taking part in the challenges.

PTFA Reading Challenge
Fri 01 Mar 2024The PTFA are so excited to announce the OFFHAM READING CHALLENGE! We have worked so hard with teachers and local businesses to create 20 exciting challenges all around our love of reading. Please do ask friends and family for sponsors - you might like to sponsor your child for the total number of challenges completed, the number of pages read... The choices are open! The reading ambassadors will collect running totals of the number of challenges each class has read, and there will be a prize for the class that completes the most challenges!
We are currently raising money for a new projector and for class sets of books for reading lessons. These vital investments will make a huge difference to the school. We are incredibly grateful for any donations.
The Book Fair is also visiting from the 13th March and we will have the opportunity for you to purchase and donate one of the class books if you wish!

Diversity Role Models
Fri 01 Mar 2024We had a visit this week from Diversity Role Models which is a UK Charity that supports schools nationally in understanding diversity, prejudice and stereotyping.
Children learnt about accepting differences as well as understanding important protected characteristics in an age appropriate way, for example race, gender, disability.
This was really important learning for children to help reinforce their PSHE learning.
We were pleased to receive positive feedback from this event. One parent said, " I wanted to take this opportunity to say well done to Offham School for yesterday’s diversity talks and talk on children’s safety.
I’m so pleased that the school are supporting open conversations about identity, communities, choice, acceptance and wellbeing. I’m very pleased that the school has taken such a progressive approach." -

Premiership League Experience
Fri 01 Mar 2024On Tuesday, Mrs Molyneux visited us for a careers assembly. It was fantastic to hear about her career over the last twenty years in football as an Event Manager for the Premiership. Mrs Molyneux has visited places all over the world !
This was followed by an assembly from the Premiership All Stars team where children got to see the actual Premiership trophy ! The very same trophy that Manchester City held as the last Premier League winners !
Children learnt interesting facts about the Trophy and the Premiership as well as the Premiership values of 'Be ambitious, Be inspired, Be fair and Be connected'. Children were inspired by the ambition and determination of the players and also learnt the importance of teamwork.
Children were able to take part in football coaching sessions with Chelsea coaches and also see the Premiership Trophy itself ! All classes could ask questions about the Trophy and have a class photo with it.
Mrs Molyneux also presented us with a new girls football kit !
It was a fabulous day and we all felt very lucky to see the real Premier League Trophy and meet the real Chelsea mascots !
This was certainly a once in a lifetime memorable experience !

CUSP Curriculum
Fri 23 Feb 2024On our Monday INSET day, teachers had a fabulous training session delivered by a Unity Schools Partnership Curriculum specialist.
As a school we teach English, history, geography and science from CUSP and we are a member school of the Unity Schools Partnership. The knowledge and skills within the curriculum is incredibly well sequenced so that children can build deep knowledge over time. Teachers really enjoyed such beneficial professional development.
CUSP is underpinned by evidence based research and allows children to make strong connections with previous learning. It also allows structured teaching with explicit teaching and opportunities to develop and apply the learning independently. Learning follows a sequence of 'Explain, Example, Attempt, Apply and Challenge.'
We would very much like to share more information about our curriculum with parents and carers so that you can learn more about CUSP and how it works in practice. You can also see some examples in some of the photos below.
We will be holding a CUSP curriculum workshop for parents and carers at the start of Term 5 on Monday 22nd April at 3 p.m. if you would like to find out more about our curriculum.
