CUSP Curriculum
Fri 23 Feb 2024On our Monday INSET day, teachers had a fabulous training session delivered by a Unity Schools Partnership Curriculum specialist.
As a school we teach English, history, geography and science from CUSP and we are a member school of the Unity Schools Partnership. The knowledge and skills within the curriculum is incredibly well sequenced so that children can build deep knowledge over time. Teachers really enjoyed such beneficial professional development.
CUSP is underpinned by evidence based research and allows children to make strong connections with previous learning. It also allows structured teaching with explicit teaching and opportunities to develop and apply the learning independently. Learning follows a sequence of 'Explain, Example, Attempt, Apply and Challenge.'
We would very much like to share more information about our curriculum with parents and carers so that you can learn more about CUSP and how it works in practice. You can also see some examples in some of the photos below.
We will be holding a CUSP curriculum workshop for parents and carers at the start of Term 5 on Monday 22nd April at 3 p.m. if you would like to find out more about our curriculum.

Careers Assembly with Mr Phipps
Fri 23 Feb 2024We were delighted to welcome Mr Phipps into our careers assembly on Tuesday. He spoke to KS2 about his career as a nurse and how he had tried his hand at many different aspects of nursing and caring before deciding to be a consultant nurse. He talked so passionately about his roles and the photos provided a real excitement about what nursing could involve. We are confident that this may have ignited a passion in some of our children to become the next generation of nurses!
Thank you Mr Phipps! Children in Rainbows have even been role playing hospitals in their role play area !

Safer Internet Day
Tue 06 Feb 2024On Tuesday we took part in the National Safer Internet Day. Our Digital Leaders carried out assemblies to both younger and older pupils and taught children how to keep safe online. Children then took part in activities in their classrooms that helped children to understand specific content such as oversharing online and how to keep personal information safe.
Thank you to Mr Goodfellow for organising this and thank you to our Digital Leaders for their informative presentations. Mr Goodfellow has recently attended training with the 'National Centre for Computing Education' and we used excellent resources from this to support the activities that children carried out.
