At the start of each term teachers will publish a list of 10 home learning challenges (stuck in the front of their homework book and published on the school website).
Home learning challenges are often linked to the current topic being studied in class - for example this term Years 3 and 4 are learning about Ancient Greece; so most challenges are based on this.
Others may be English based. Four are Maths based and some focus on creativity.
All challenges are linked to the Kent objective frameworks for your child’s year group to ensure that they are completing age appropriate learning at home.
All challenges are open-ended, intended to encourage your child to challenge themselves as much as they feel able.
Each weekend we are asking the children (and you as parents) to choose one of the challenges to do - you don’t have to do all 10 in a term. Challenges may be completed in any order.
Some challenges will take longer than others, allowing you to tailor the home learning to suit your weekend commitments or the motivation and energy levels of your child.
All we ask is that your child completes at least 2 maths based challenges each term. Everything else is up to them. Maths based challenges are in blue boxes, signposted by a maths symbol on the selection sheet.
Please find the home learning challenges for Term 1 2019-20 below. Please ensure that you check your child's Homework Book to ensure you are referencing the correct Homework activities. Please also note that we will not be covering rounding until the middle of Term 1. Accordingly, you may wish to delay completion of that activity.
