Yellow Class

Osmington Bay

Welcome to Yellow Class!

Hello! Welcome to Yellow Class' Class Page. We’re Miss Rodgers and Mrs Hurst; Class teachers for Year 6.

We love teaching Yellow Class because we think it’s the best year! We work very hard to make sure that all of our children are ready for the move into secondary school but make sure that we have as much fun as possible while we’re working!

Not only do we have lots of responsibilities within the school day, we also deliver Harvest boxes and visit the Offham community, get special training with Kent’s ‘Safety in Action’ and finally finish our year with one incredible residential trip to PGL Osmington Bay. That’s not all though, make sure you also stick around to see our star-studded production and Leavers’ Assembly before the academic year is up!

We are very fortunate in Yellow Class to have a large team to support us. Mrs Tilley and Mrs Thomas share a love of literacy lessons and can often be found challenging children to use their imagination. Mrs Heeley works as a 1:1 support as well as heading up key interventions around emotional literacy, and Mrs Nerdrum loves to challenge children to explore and investigate in maths lessons.

We’re a team of 6 in Year 6 and we love it – we hope you do too!

This term's learning will include ...

We will be writing a range of fiction and non-fiction texts based on 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo.

We will completing a wide range of investigations and projects both independently and in groups.

The Water Cycle.

We will be learning about life after death, from the Muslim perspective.

We will be learning all of the songs for our production, 'Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies'.

We will be using paint, collage and building structures for necessary props.

Osmington Bay

Osmington Bay is nearly here! Monday 11th June - Friday 15th June. Don't forget to look back here regularly for uploaded photographs and the children's opinions!

PE Kits

Please make sure that your child has their full PE kit in school at ALL times. At the very least they should have T-shirt, shorts and trainers in school.

Remember to name your child’s property

Also, just a reminder that lost items are far more likely to return to their owners if they are clearly named! That includes any pens, pencil cases, lunch boxes, bags etc as well as clothes.

Safety in Action

On Wednesday the 2nd May, Year 6 went to 'Safety in Action' which is a morning run by Salus to provide interactive teaching about a range of safety measures that they should be aware of. They got to meet fire-fighters, police, life guards and others who taught the children key survival tactics and tips of how to keep safe in a range of situations. A big thank you goes out to all of the parents who dropped off/ picked up the children, as well as 'Well done!' to all of Yellow Class who behaved impeccably. One of the activity leaders stopped us on our way out to say that you were one of the nicest classes that she's ever taught - well done you!

Thank you for your continued support!
