Orange Class

Welcome to Orange Class!

Orange Class Teaching Team

Hi! Welcome to Orange Class' Class Page. I'm Miss Kostiw, the class teacher in Orange Class. I work with Mrs Rose, who also teaches Orange Class and our teaching assistant is Mrs Price. I love teaching Orange Class because we have lots of fun opportunities that we are involved with throughout the year such as Maypole dancing on the village green on Mayday and our residential trip to Kingswood. My favourite lesson to teach is English and Mrs Rose's favourite lesson to teach is Maths because there are so many different ways to get the answer and it's so much fun exploring and investigating. Mrs Price speaks fluent French which always really impresses us and she teaches French for the rest of Key Stage 2. Mrs Price is brilliant at explaining things and helping us learn new words. We love working together as a team and helping Orange Class to learn to their full potential.

The second set of CAT tests will take place on Monday 21st May and Tuesday 22nd May. Results will be given out the first week back after half term.

Kingswood

A parent meeting will be held on Thursday 10th May at 3.30pm in Orange Class' Classroom to discuss the itinerary of our residential trip and answer any questions you may have regarding the trip.

PE Kits

Please make sure that your child has their full PE kit in school at ALL times. At the very least they should have T-shirt, shorts and plimsolls in school. This term we will be doing Maypole dancing, culminating in our performance at the Fayre on 5th Mayl. Separate information about socks etc will come out from the Office. We will also be learning cricket this term with Mrs Thomas and Health and Fitness with Mrs Barrett and myself.

Remember to name your child’s property

Also, just a reminder that lost items are far more likely to return to their owners if they are clearly named! That includes any pens, pencil cases, lunch boxes etc as well as clothes.

Spellings

Each Friday, your child will be given 7 statutory words (that may include a maths term) and 7 words from a spelling pattern. I will then add on 2 extra words based on the spelling pattern in their test each week to make 16 spellings.

Times tables

We will be doing times table challenges most Mondays. Times tables are extremely important in their numeracy and are linked to lots of topics in the curriculum e.g. division, fractions. Please encourage your child to practise daily at home.

Homework

We will continue to alternate English (Comprehension and SPaG) and Maths every Friday. Please encourage your children to complete this work as independently as possible as we are only two terms away from year 6! Homework is usually always based on what we have been learning in class and I will explain to children methods and expectations when the work is set each week. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks,

Miss Kostiw, Mrs Rose and Mrs Price.
