Children to go through mock papers, sounding out and blending each word carefully. discuss with your child the mistakes that they make and the sounds that they are unsure of or do not recognise within the words. 

 

Children to then make their own phonic screening test. They could do this in their books by writing a list of words using the different phase 2,3,4 & 5 sounds or on spare pieces of paper found at home. Children can create real words and alien words, making sure that they have pictures of aliens next to their nonsense words. They can then share their phonic tests in class to test each other. 

 

I have attached phonic mats for each of the phases to aid creating real and fake words.
